Chapter 2-14 - Elderly blues

I tapped my foot impatiently when I saw the piddle puddle in front of the door.  Why did I get a dog again? I wondered with irritation.  A romantic overture? Stupid!
"Bad dog! Bad!" I shook my finger at him, annoyed when Ginger just wagged her tail and leapt at my finger.  The silly dog didn't even understand she was in trouble!

"Good morning, Danjou Pear," Estevan told his son as he lifted him from the crib.  "Play with your toys and be good for your mommy today."
Danjou scurried over to the corner where his Imaginary Friend was waiting.

In a rush, Estevan hurried from the house.  "On my way to work, babe! See you tonight!"
Just minutes later, I got a phone call.  "Hello?" I answered quickly, stepping away from the table.

"Hey girl, it's me."

"Hey me," I responded, no clue who it could me.

"It's me, VJ.  I was wondering if you'd be willing to have a little chat with me. I wanna run something by you," he said cagily.

I shrugged.  "Sure, why not. When and where?"

"Abandoned Warehouse at 10 am. See you there."
"Hey, Mom. I'm going out. Can you watch the kids?" I asked.

"Sure, sweetie. It's not like I'm going anywhere," Simone said with a sigh.

I glanced back at her.  "You okay Mom?"

She waved her hand at me and made a face. "No. Go! Go have fun! I just remember the days I could do whatever I wanted to do. Devil-may-care."

I winced. Sounded like Mom missed a little adventure in her life.  I made a note to try to think of something that would get her out of the house.

But for now, I slid onto my Fiery Beast and revved it up.  I felt like such a rebel whenever I had this bad boy between my thighs.
There it was. The Abandoned WarehouseWhy in the world did VJ want to meet me here?
I pulled around back and saw the door was heavily guarded.  Interesting.  Stepping up to the door, I pushed the intercom button.  "Hey, I'm here to see VJ," I said, releasing the button.  While I waited, I saw the video camera moved slightly towards me and then a beep sounded and the door opened.
What the hell have I gotten into? I wondered as I walked inside.

Simone had turned into a home-body.  The only purpose to her life revolved around chores and taking care of her beautiful grandsons.
"Not that I mind taking care of you guys," she told Emu Apple as she fed him.  "Sometimes I just want more."
With a sigh, she picked up Danjou Pear and put him to bed, as well.  "One day when you're older, you'll understand."
Ambling outside, she sat down at the chess table.  It just wasn't as much fun to play it alone...
Dying of boredom, she wandered over to the telescope.  She wondered what the Landgraabs were up to...
Perhaps the lab station would hold her interest for awhile...

I stretched and yawned as I stepped from the Warehouse. I'd stayed longer than I'd intended.

VJ had explained that they were missing a crew member & seeing that I was a bit of a rebel, he thought I might be interested.

"What do you want me to do?" I'd asked him, then listened while he'd explained his plan.

Back home, I hurried to join Estevan in our bed.  "Thanks again for watching the kids, Mom! I'm beat, I'll see you in the morning," I called out before the bedroom door slammed shut.

"Sleep well, sweetie," Mom called after me absently.

Maybe I'd have time to talk to her tomorrow about getting out more often.

"Gamma?..." Danjou asked, pausing.  "Gamma?"  Pause. "Gamma?"  Pause. "GAAAMMMA?"
"Oh for plumbbob's sake!" Simone replied with annoyance, setting the beakers done. Her concentration was split between the call, her urgent need to pee & Danjou's wailing.  "I'm coming, Danjou. Give me a minute."

It might be something important, she thought, picking up the phone.  "Hello?" she asked, her face lighting up in pleasure when she heard her son's voice.  "Citron! How are you sweetie?!"
"Yes, I'm in the nursery with the boys.  Say hi to Uncle Citron," she said, holding the phone out towards Danjou.

"Gamma!" Citron cried.

Simone frowned. "I have to let you go, sweetie. Danjou wants out of the crib." She paused. "Okay, I love you, too!"
She was hanging up the phone when she felt the warm liquid running down her leg.  "Oh $#*&!" she snapped. "Getting older bites!"
She hurried to Danjou's crib and let him out.
"Here, drink your bottle," she said, apparently oblivious to the fact that she set him down in a big puddle of pee.  "I need to go take a quick shower!"
